Yoku Moku Blue Brick Lounge
Minami Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo
Quick Fact
Yoku Moku is a Japanese classic for Western-style sweets. At the Blue Brick Lounge, you can relax over beautifully plated desserts, while the adjoining storefront offers cookies and cakes to take home. Of course, the brand's iconic cigar-shaped cookies in their blue tins are impossible to resist - indeed, a sweet reminder of childhood for me.

Cigare Cookies
Yoku Moku is best known for its Cigare Cookies. These iconic treats are made by baking a rich butter dough and carefully rolling it into a delicate cylinder. Crisp yet tender, each bite delivers simple, enduring happiness.
Individually wrapped, they're perfect for enjoying on the go — or sharing a little piece of classic Japanese confectionery with someone special.

How Yoku Moku Got Its Name
The name Yoku Moku was inspired by the northern Swedish town of Jokkmokk, located about 6.5 miles north of the Arctic Circle. In the Sami language, "Jokkmokku" means "the place where the river bends."
In 1934, Norikazu Fujinawa founded a confectionery business, Fujinawa Shoten, with his brother. Years later, while traveling the world, he was drawn to Jokkmokk on a map. The name's unique, warm sound intrigued him, and in 1969, he visited the town in person. Welcomed with simplicity and warmth, Fujinawa felt he had discovered the true essence of Western confectionery. Returning to Japan, he adapted the spelling...
